Tasting note The Aquilae (latin for Eagle) is so-named for a nearby endangered colony of the birds. Made from the local indigenous variety Nero d’Avola, this typically deep-red coloured wine is great example of what the grape can do. Sweet red-fruit aroma, smooth tannins, excellent length and bright, fresh acidity all in perfect balance. One of the best examples of the style on the island. Country: Italy Region: Sicily Grape variety: Nero d’Avola Vintage: 2010 Bottle size: 75cl<br> The Canicatti winery started in the 1960s as an association of Sicilian vine-growers who pooled their fruit together to make enough wine to be noticed on the market. Today they are one of the most modern wineries on the island, and are well-respected for their local expertise in viticulture. Regrettably, this product is non-returnable and non-exportable.
